How to Import a CS2 Crosshair Code
Learn how to copy and import a CS2 crosshair code, back up your current crosshair and fix the most common import problems.
Import a CS2 crosshair code in five steps
The simplest way to use a professional player's crosshair is through CS2's built-in Share or Import window. You do not need to enable the developer console when you have a complete share code beginning with CSGO-.
- Copy the complete code
Copy every group of the CSGO- share code. Do not add quotation marks, spaces or punctuation.
- Open the Crosshair settings
Start CS2, select Settings, open the Game tab and find the Crosshair section.
- Open Share or Import
Select Share or Import beside the crosshair preview.
- Paste and import
Paste the code into the field and select Import. The preview should update immediately.
- Test before a match
Load a practice map and check visibility against bright, dark and detailed backgrounds.

Paste and import the CS2 crosshair code
Paste the complete CSGO- share code into the Share or Import field and select Import. CS2 should apply the new crosshair immediately, so check the preview before closing Settings.

Back up your current CS2 crosshair
Before importing another player's crosshair, open the same Share or Import window and choose Copy Your Code. Save that code somewhere you can find it again.
A share code stores several crosshair values together. Restoring your saved code is faster and more reliable than trying to remember the previous size, gap, thickness, color and outline values individually.
How to enable the developer console in CS2
A share code does not require the console, but individual cl_crosshair commands do. In CS2, open Settings, choose Game and set Enable Developer Console (~) to Yes.
On an English or US keyboard the console normally opens with the ~ key. On Swedish and other keyboard layouts the physical key may display §, ` or another symbol.
- Try the key below Escape
After enabling the console, press the key directly below Escape. The printed symbol depends on your keyboard layout.
- Assign a different console key
Open Keyboard/Mouse settings, find Toggle Console and assign an unused key such as F10.
- Use Steam as a fallback
If the console still cannot be opened, add -console under CS2's Steam Properties and Launch Options. Start the game, then enter bind "F10" "toggleconsole" once the console is visible.
bind "F10" "toggleconsole"
Bind the CS2 console to another key
If the default console key does not work with your keyboard layout, open Keyboard/Mouse settings, scroll to UI Keys and select Toggle Console. Assign an unused key that is easy to reach, such as F10.

Crosshair codes and console commands are different
Paste a CSGO- share code into the Share or Import window, not directly into the console. A command beginning with cl_crosshair belongs in the developer console or a trusted CFG file.
BestCrosshair displays both formats where available: the share code is fastest for importing the full crosshair, while the command list makes each underlying value visible.
CSGO-nCfX7-54ue9-aC5eV-6Womf-Q6izOcl_crosshairsize 2; cl_crosshairgap -3; cl_crosshairthickness 0.5Why a CS2 crosshair code may not work
An invalid-code message usually means that part of the share code is missing or that extra characters were copied. Copy the code again from the first C in CSGO through the final group.
If the code imports but the result looks different from a screenshot, compare the actual settings and remember that resolution, scaling and the background can change how large or clear a crosshair appears on screen.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the CS2 console to import a crosshair code?
No. A complete CSGO- share code can be pasted directly into Settings, Game, Crosshair and Share or Import.
Does a crosshair code change sensitivity or keybinds?
No. A crosshair share code changes crosshair-related values and does not replace mouse sensitivity, viewmodel commands or keyboard bindings.
How do I restore my old crosshair?
Open Share or Import and paste the backup code you copied before testing the new crosshair.
