Best CS2 Viewmodel Settings Used by Pro Players

Compare common CS2 pro viewmodel settings, copy tested command combinations and use a Steam Workshop map to find a comfortable weapon position.

The best CS2 viewmodel to try first

There is no viewmodel that improves recoil or accuracy. A good starting point uses FOV 68 and moves the weapon far enough toward the edge to feel unobtrusive without making knives, grenades or skins awkward to inspect.

Try one complete setup for several rounds before adjusting individual offsets. Frequent small changes make it harder to tell whether the new position actually helps you read the screen.

Test viewmodels in the Steam Workshop map

The crashz' Viewmodel Generator CS2 workshop map is useful for testing positions inside CS2. Its Steam description lists real-time previews, position and side controls, visible console commands and community presets.

Testing in game is more reliable than judging a browser mockup because CS2 renders the actual weapon models, animations, skins and aspect ratio you use.

  1. Subscribe on Steam

Open the Workshop page while signed in and select Subscribe. Let Steam finish downloading the map.

  2. Launch the Workshop map

Start CS2, choose Play, open Workshop Maps and select crashz' Viewmodel Generator.

  3. Try presets and individual controls

Compare positions with rifles, pistols, knives and grenades rather than testing one weapon only.

  4. Save the final commands

Use the command display in the map or copy the values into a separate CFG so you can restore the setup later.

Copy a professional player's viewmodel

Open the CS2 player directory, choose a profile and find the Viewmodel section. Select Copy viewmodel, paste the complete line into the developer console and press Enter.

Follow the viewmodel import guide if the console will not open, only some values apply or the setup resets after another CFG runs.

What each viewmodel command changes

viewmodel_fov changes how far away the weapon model appears. Offset X moves it left or right, offset Y moves it forward or backward, and offset Z moves it up or down. The allowed ranges are intentionally limited by CS2.

viewmodel_presetpos applies several built-in values together. If a command line contains both a preset and explicit offsets, keep the preset first so the later values remain the final position.

Choose between visibility and skin presentation

Moving the model toward the edge can make the center feel cleaner, while bringing it closer or higher can make a weapon skin more prominent. Neither choice changes the playable camera view, so this is mainly about comfort and visual distraction.

Check scoped weapons, pistols, knives and grenade animations before saving a setup. An offset that looks ideal with one rifle can feel crowded with another model.

Save and restore your chosen viewmodel

Keep the final command line in a separate .cfg file while testing. The CS2 config installation guide explains the correct folder, exec command and common .cfg.txt mistake.

Do not overwrite an existing autoexec without making a backup. A small viewmodel-only file is easier to compare, remove and restore.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best CS2 viewmodel?

There is no universal best. FOV 68 with the weapon moved toward the edge is a practical starting point, but the final offsets should be tested with several weapon models.

Do viewmodel settings improve accuracy?

No. They only move the visible weapon and hands and do not change recoil, spread, sensitivity or the playable camera field of view.

Where can I test CS2 viewmodels in game?

The crashz' Viewmodel Generator CS2 Steam Workshop map provides real-time in-game testing, community presets and visible console commands.

Can I copy a pro player's CS2 viewmodel?

Yes. BestCrosshair player profiles provide the current FOV, offsets and a copyable command line when the Viewmodel section is available.
